Description
PLANT PATHOLOGY
Examines the nature of vascular plant diseases, the biology of plant pathogens and the impact of diseases on society. Students will be introduced to the principles of plant pathology, including: disease and pathogen classification, modes of pathogenesis, host response to disease agents and disease management practices. Students will gain practical experience in the identification of plant pathogens, inoculation and isolation methods and diagnostic techniques through laboratory exercises and field tours. Prerequisites: BIOLOGY 242 (Microbiology) and BIOLOGY 271 (Cell Biology). The course meets for 3 hours of lecture/2 hours of laboratory per week. Not offered every semester.
