Description
PLANT PHYSIOLOGY
Surveys plant function. Includes discussions of water relations, xylem function, phloem function, photosynthesis, mineral nutrition, and hormones. Plant growth, development and adaptations are reviewed from a physiological viewpoint. Students are required to read and review relevant primary literature articles. This course counts as either an upper-level elective or towards the physiology core requirement for Biology majors. Prerequisite: BIOLOGY 115 (Concepts in Biology 2) and BIOLOGY 271 (Cell Biology). Three hours of lecture per week. Not offered every semester.
