ORIENTATION TO EXCEPTIONALITIES
Provides an overview of exceptionalities and acquaints the student with historical foundations, research, service models, theories, legislation and philosophies that form the basis of special education practice. Educational rights, characteristics, assessment procedures, and evidence-based instructional practices are reviewed. Students will explore the development of an ethical framework for serving and valuing students with disabilities and their families. Three hours lecture per week.
