TRANSITION SERVICES FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
Presents an overview of methodology and service structures that facilitate the successful transition from school to adult living for individuals with disabilities. Examination of the key aspects of transition will be highlighted, including a historical, legal and philosophical frame as a foundation for transition service provision. Issues related to the transition planning process and strategies for developing an individual transition plan will be presented. Additionally, an emphasis on system/agency coordination and developing familiarity with adult service resources will be addressed. Research-based effective practices for preparing students with disabilities for adult living will be described for use and application.Three hours lecture per week.
